Market eases, but not bad signs
THE eastern market indicator eased 6 cents per kilogram this week to close at 708c/kg - not a bad result considering the further strengthening of the Australian dollar.
Of the 53,310 bales offered, 19.1 per cent was passed in. It appears price reserves are becoming stricter.
Most types received discounts, with 20 and 30 micron fleece wools most affected. There were some types that actually gained some ground throughout the week.
Southern region
MOST Merino fleece types eased about 5c/kg, with 20 micron types shedding 10c/kg.
Merino skirtings remained firm after initially falling on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Crossbred fleece wools eased 5-10c/kg, with the finer end strengthening and the broader end dipping.
Carding wools lifted about 5c/kg, with locks the biggest improver.
About 56,000 bales have been rostered for sale next week in all three centres.
Sales will be held over two days in Melbourne.
Little change is anticipated, considering the reduction in wool offered.
