Market steadies
THE eastern market indicator (EMI) eased 4 cents per kilogram this week to close at 747c/kg.
Passed-in rates increased due to the fall. Of the 59,382 offered, 12.8 per cent was passed in.
Nearly all wools broader than 18.5-micron dipped slightly.
Southern region
Most Merino fleece wools broader than 18.5-micron shed 5-10c/kg. Finer types continued to rise.
Merino skirtings again strengthened slightly overall - mainly better styled pieces and bellies.
Crossbred fleece wools remained relatively unchanged, apart from the finer end which fell slightly. Carding wools continued to weaken.
Sales will be held in the three centres again next week, with Melbourne breaking the 2-day cycle to sell over 3 days. A total 62,761 bales are rostered for sale.
Similar market activity is anticipated next week. There will most likely be little change.
