Market remains solid
THE eastern market indicator (EMI) eased 6 cents per kilogram this week to close at 753c/kg.
Passed-in rates fell again as a result of the improved prices. Of the 60,435 bales offered, 9.3 per cent was passed in.
Wools finer than 19.5-micron were again the biggest mover.
Southern region
Merino fleece wools 19.5-micron and finer jumped about 10c/kg, while remaining wools remained firm.
Merino skirtings again strengthened slightly - mainly better styled pieces and bellies and the finer end.
Crossbred fleece wools were solid, with some types increasing. Carding wools continued their poor run with a further 5c/kg fall.
Sales will be held in Melbourne, Fremantle and Newcastle next week. A total 64,062 bales have been rostered for sale.
The higher prices this week were mainly due to the weakened Australian dollar. Prices should remain relatively unchanged, unless we see currency changes again.
