Market remains in positive territory
THE wool market enjoyed a mostly positive week with most types posting gains, with the exception of broader crossbred wools.
The Eastern Market Indicator finished the week at 839 cents per kilogram clean, increasing 26c/kg despite the high Australian Dollar, which is hovering at 87-88 US cents.
Finer wools rebounded a little with some good gains, while demand for medium micron types was strong, with price increases of up around 30c/kg.
Wool of 21-23 microns performed particularly well.
Healthy competition continued for skirtings too, with better style types jumping 20-25c/kg.
Crossbred wools of 26-27 microns followed suit, fetching up to an additional 25c/kg, however broader types eased slightly.
Oddments eased a little towards the end of the week, with locks and stains most affected.
A total 46,489 bales have been rostered for sale next week.
