Market falls below 700c/kg
THE eastern market indicator eased further this week to
close at 698 cents per kilogram - a fall of 8c/kg.
The northern region market dipped by 16c/kg, with some Merino
fleece wools shedding up to 25c/kg.
The southern region was less affected, but still declined
by 5c/kg.
Passed-in rates were recorded at 14 per cent.
The Australian dollar remained at 76 cents against the Greenback.
Most Merino fleece types in Melbourne were about 5c/kg cheaper.
Wools in the 19 micron and finer range were most affected,
with some types falling up to 10c/kg.
Merino skirtings were less affected, but still eased by about
5c/kg.
Crossbred wools remained unchanged, apart from 30 micron
and broader types which fell by about 10c/kg. Cardings dipped
5-10c/kg.
Next week's sales will be held in Melbourne, Newcastle and
Fremantle, with a total offering of 53,382 bales rostered.
