Prices hold steady
THE wool market held firm this week, with the Eastern Market Indicator settling at 850 cents per kilogram clean, falling just 3c/kg.
The Australian dollar hovered at its level from last week, drifting from 93.5 to 92.6 US cents toward the end of the week.
A total 47,436 bales were put under the hammer, with around 12 per cent of the catalogue passed-in.
Demand for skirtings continued to be healthy, while competition for crossbred wools was a little up and down.
Prices for finer wools of 17.5 micron and finer dipped this week, with the trade aware of the upcoming fine wool sale at Newcastle next week.
Finer skirtings were also in plentiful supply compared to broader types.
Buyers for China and India were again the main players in the market this week, although stronger interest from European buyers was also noticeable.
A total 49,061 bales are scheduled for auction next week.
