Market eases slightly
THE eastern market indicator closed 4 cents per kilogram
lower this week at 726c/kg.
Passed-in rates were recorded at 11.9 per cent.
Middle micron fleece wools were most affected, easing by 5-10c/kg.
Wools of 17.5 micron and finer strengthened by up to 10c/kg
and prices for crossbred types also increased slightly.
Merino pieces and bellies weakened by about 10c/kg and carding
wools remained unchanged.
Two-day sales will be held in all centres next week due to
the ANZAC Day holiday.
Total bales on offer will be a little more than 53,000 bales.
We expect the market to largely remain unchanged.
The International Wool Textile Organisation conference held
this week in Tasmania (Hobart) was apparently very informative.
We will include more information of the week's activities
and topics in next week's report.
