Market remains steady

THE eastern market indicator (EMI) closed 1 cent per kilogram higher this week at 746c/kg.

The pass-in rate was again 10 per cent of the 51,799 bales offered.

Fine wool has continued its solid run despite reasonably large offerings, gaining 10-15c/kg.

Southern region

Merino fleece wools finer than 20 micron lifted 10-15c/kg, while remaining types struggled.

Merino skirtings eased overall, with broader, faulty types most affected. Better fine types remained solid.

Crossbred fleece wools eased too, but only slightly.

Carding wools continued to weaken, with most types falling 10-15c/kg.

Sales will be held in the three centres again next week, with 57,950 bales rostered to go under the hammer.

A similar market trend is anticipated.
