Market finds some stability
THE wool market showed very little change this week, with
the eastern market indicator remaining at 698 cents per kilogram.
Prices were weaker early in the week before a dip in the
Australian dollar helped them recover.
Some types such as 19-micron Merino fleece wools fell slightly,
while other types such as 30-micron crossbred fleece gained
slightly.
Passed-in rates were recorded at 10 per cent.
In the southern region, Merino fleece types were slightly
weaker overall, with 17 and 19 micron wools most affected.
Wool's of 20-22 microns increased by up to 5c/kg.
Merino skirtings remained much the same and crossbred wools
fetched about 5c/kg more.
Cardings eased slightly for the week, but finished on a strong
note.
Next week's sales will be held in Melbourne, Sydney and Fremantle,
with a total offering of 59,799 bales rostered.
The market is expected to follow a similar trend. Volumes
of wool on offer are steady and the Australian dollar will
again play a large role in the prices achieved.
