Market eases as dollar rises
THE eastern market indicator fell slightly this week to
close at 666 cents per kilogram – a fall of 6c/kg.
Passed-in rates closed at 10.6 per cent.
Although prices were generally subdued, New Zealand recorded
its best clearance yet, with only 7pc of the offering passed
in. This was a very good result considering the large offering.
Southern region
Most Merino fleece types fell by about 10c/kg. Merino skirtings
also dipped 5-10c/kg and crossbred wools decreased by about
5c/kg.
Cardings weakened slightly, again towards the end of sales.
Next week’s offerings will again be held in Melbourne,
Sydney and Fremantle, with a total of 61,648 bales rostered.
