Demand slows on small offering
DESPITE this week's sale volumes being smaller, the market
still struggled a little, with the eastern market indicator
slipping 4 cents per kilogram to close at 722c/kg.
Most price falls were seen in the 18, 19 and 25 micron Merino
fleece categories, with drops of up to 10c/kg.
Prices for all other Merino fleece types decreased by about
5c/kg. Crossbred wool prices followed suit, while Merino skirtings
and cardings were least affected, with only slight price falls.
Passed-in rates edged up on last week's figures and accounted
for 13.4 per cent of the wool offered.
Next week's sales will be held in all three major centres,
with about 60,000 bales expected to be put under the hammer.
Most of the offering will be in Melbourne, where just over
30,000 bales are rostered for sale.
Little market change is anticipated.
