Market eases

THE eastern market indicator fell 25 cents per kilogram this week due to a strengthening Australian dollar and slowing demand from China.

The indicator closed at 910c/kg.

Of the 48,392 bales offered, 17.3 per cent was passed-in - almost 10pc more than last week.

Nearly all types eased except for broad crossbred wools and cardings, which remained firm.

Southern region

All Merino fleece fell 20-30c/kg, while Merino skirtings shed about 20c/kg.

Crossbred fleece finer than 30 microns dipped 20c/kg, while broader types remained solid.

Cardings also remained firm.

Sales will be held in all three centres next week, with a little over 53,000 bales rostered for sale.

The market may struggle a little, but it should hold up.
