Quality Wool has teamed with one of Australia’s leading apparel industry experts to give growers a glimpse of the newest exciting innovations in Merino wool sportswear at the 41st South East Field Days in Lucindale.

Carol Stubbs, founder of consultancy business Texworks and formerly of Australian Wool Innovation and RM Williams, joined the Quality team in their marquee at Yakka Park to offer a different perspective on the ‘farm to fabric’ process, showcasing the latest fashion in woollen active wear and running shoes.

As the gates opened on Friday morning and patrons began to flock in, Ms Stubbs wowed audiences as she introduced them to the Woolmark Company Optim Jacket and Adidas’s Wool Runner, with many onlookers expressing their pleasant surprise that such cutting‑edge new fashions were predominantly Merino‑based.

Made from 100 per cent, 16‑micron Australian Merino wool, the Woolmark Optim Jacket is resistant to water and wind while retaining all of the fibre’s fine properties such as breathability.

The Adidas Wool Runner is made up of 100 per cent Merino wool lining with sweat‑wicking properties, offering lightweight comfort, flexibility and support while reducing waste due to fewer materials.

These new products were just one of the numerous talking points in the South East, with the fact the wool market remains buoyant sitting some 207 cents per kilogram higher than the same time in 2018 contributing to the buzz.

Wool and Livestock representatives from multiple regions were on hand to greet both long‑time clients and new visitors, while Quality’s own range of woollen products including business socks, ankle socks, beanies and Q‑Tubes were again in high demand.

A winner of the Guess the Micron, Yield and VM competition will also be announced in the coming days, with the recipient to be personally presented a 63‑piece Kincrome socket set by a Quality Wool representative.
