Wool market continues climb

The wool market had another positive session this week, with the Eastern Market Indicator (EMI) closing 46 cents per kilogram higher at 1304c/kg clean.
Hitting the floor were a total of 28,515 bales, with only 1.1 per cent of those passed-in.
This week also saw the Australian dollar gaining US.61C against the greenback since the last sales, equating to a 42c/kg rise in US currency.
Again, solid gains were recorded across the catalogue and in the finer end ranged from 45-81c/kg.
The 19 micron guide closed 81c/kg higher at 1480c/kg.
In the medium micron fleece offering, prices were up by 70-83c/kg, with the highest rise seen in 23 micron guide which came to rest at 1381c/kg.
Merino skirtings also performed well and closed 30-50c/kg higher, which cardings gained 14/kg.
Gains in the crossbreds sector were more modest at 13-15c/kg.
Next week’s sale will see an estimated 31,332 bales go under the hammer.
